With a global presence in over 50 countries, LAPP is a leading provider of industrial connectivity solutions known for their innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction. And now, they've brought that same level of expertise and attention to detail to the world of EV charging cables.
In this blog post, we'll be taking a closer look at the LAPP EV charging cables and reviewing their features and benefits. Whether you're a Tesla Model 3 or Model Y owner, you won't want to miss out on our review of LAPP’s high-quality EV charging cables.
Today we will be reviewing the LAPP Helix Cable and LAPP Standard Cable.
Helix Charging Cable (22kW)
The LAPP Helix EV charging cable is a high-quality, durable cable designed for Tesla owners who want premium quality with the ease of portability. With a unique, coiled design, we love the Helix cable for its flexibility when charging your car, and convenience when packing away and storing.
The Helix cable 22kW is capable of charging a Tesla Model 3 or Model Y in approx. 8 hours. Just note, the maximum loading capacity for both cars is 11kW which means you won’t be utilising the full 22kW.
However, if the budget allows, having a 22kW cable means future proofing yourself for future models or versatility if you have another smaller EV and want to maximise the charge on the single phase (which will allow for approx. 7kW vs 4.6kW on the 11kW charging cable due to the 20A on the single phase).
One of the key standout features of the Helix cable which a lot of Tesla owners will love is its ability to go back to its original shape after uncoiling. This makes charging a breeze. Once your done, all you need to do is pick up the 'coils' and your good to go.
Another thing you'll notice with the Helix cable is its weight (approx 2.4kg) and thickness compared to the standard cable. Despite its heavier and thicker build, the Helix cable remains flexible and easy to manage.
The Helix cable comes in 5m, in either Orange or Black.
LAPP Standard Charging Cable (22kW)
The LAPP Standard EV Charging cable is a great versatile charging cable for when you need a lightweight charging cable on the go.
If you are not concerned about the memory shape of the Helix and just want a simple, no fuss EV charging cable, the standard option is a great alternative. Available in both 11kW and 22kW, both options will charge your Tesla Model Y or Model 3 with ease.
As mentioned earlier, the standard cable has a thinner cable as featured below, and weighs at approx. 2kgs.
Both Helix and Standard cables are 3 phase, 32A and come with a ergonomic handle for ease of use when plugging and unplugging your cable.
The Standard cable is available either Orange or Black and in 5m or a generous 7m for those tricky charging spots.
The Verdict?
Depending on your situation, if there is a flexibility in budget, the Helix cable stands out with its remarkable ability to return to its original shape, making on-the-go charging effortless. However, the Standard cable also proves to be a fantastic, lightweight alternative. Regardless of your choice, both options from LAPP provide reliable and efficient charging solutions for Tesla owners who want Premium Quality charging options.
